Mercy Divine Properties Limited based in Port Harcourt, the Rivers State capital, has commenced the development of two new estates located at Aleto, Eleme Local Government Area of the state.
The two estates named Apple Garden City Phase I and II are on a high table land Mercy Amatemeso, Chief Executive Officer of Mercy Divine Properties, christened, Banana Highland.
Apple Garden City Phase I and II are opposite one another on the Aleto-Woji-Alesa Link Road on the approach from the New Gbalaja Bridge.
Unveiling the projects recently, Gabriel Tobi, former deputy governor of Rivers State, expressed delight at the location and the buildings under construction.
Tobi said: “I think this is a large project, which has been possible because of the divine grace of God. I think the proprietor, in giving the name, Mercy Divine, really knew what she was doing.
“Shelter, which is one of the basic things of life, she is providing it, and in a decent way. And, we can only thank God for what He is doing in her life by using her to give shelter to people, give employment to people.

“She’s doing a lot of charity work, which I hear she is doing. So, we pray that God should continue to bless her and increase her coast, and make sure that this becomes a very successful project.”
Amatemeso told BusinessDaySunday that they are building 800 housing units on both estates, which are targeted at both the upper and middle classes.
On the choice of Banana Highland as name for the land she bought from the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL), she said, “I just love the name.”
Amatemeso said the two estates are expected to be completed in the next two years and urged investors not to delay, as according to her, “now is the right time to invest in the projects.”
She explained that some staff of NNPCL and other investors have started putting in their money, assuring that the land has a certificate of occupancy (C of O).
“Yes, I’m the CEO of Mercy Divine Properties. The property was bought from NNPCL. Some of the staff of NNPC are subscribers.
“We are building for some of the staff of NNPC and other people are also subscribing to it, and it has C of O.
“The place is named Banana Highland because the land is very high. It’s a table and dry land, and this is the best time to invest because Odili Road is already filled up. Golf Estate is already filled up, too.
“So, the best thing to do is to invest in Banana Highland because of the proximity to Woji, the refinery, and the road construction is almost completed.
“It’s not a water area. It’s a beautiful table, dry land surrounded by water,” Amatemeso stated.
