Femi Sanni (Araba), APC governorship aspirant in Kwara State, has described the endorsement of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu by the FCT Minister Nyesom Wike as further proof of the President’s growing national acceptance and the APC’s political dominance ahead of the 2027 general elections.
In a statement released to journalists on Friday, Araba said Wike’s support, despite his standing in the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), reflects growing confidence across party lines in President Tinubu’s leadership and reform agenda.
“When a leading opposition figure publicly backs President Tinubu’s re-election, it confirms that the APC remains the party to beat,” he said.
He said the same political reality exists in Kwara State, where the APC, according to him, retains strong grassroots support, while the PDP and other opposition parties lack the capacity to pose a serious electoral challenge.
Araba urged all governorship aspirants, himself included, and other party stakeholders with genuine concerns about the current situation in the Kwara APC to remain steadfast, expressing confidence that President Tinubu and the party’s National Working Committee have the capacity and political will to resolve outstanding issues, restore unity and position the party for a stronger outing in the 2027 election.
He also cautioned media aides and supporters of individuals, especially the one believed to be favoured now for the party’s governorship ticket, against inflammatory rhetoric capable of deepening divisions.
“There is no need for statements that alienate members of the APC family further. Our differences should be addressed with maturity and not in ways that hand political advantage to the opposition,” he added.
