Jehovah’s Witnesses set for 2024 regional conventions

…Highlights need to spread good news

Jehovah’s Witnesses (JW) is set to hold its 2024 ‘Declare the Good News’ convention series beginning the weekend of August 9 -11, 2024.

The convention, which is free to participants is expected to draw over 3,000 attendees weekly to each of the Lekki, Badagry, and Daluwon for a total of 17 weekends.

“These conventions are a highlight of the year for thousands of people who need to experience some positivity in their lives, and we are happy to enjoy the programme once again in this welcoming and hospitable city,” Ezekiel Bolaji, local spokesperson for Jehovah’s Witnesses said in a statement.

Bolaji disclosed that the convention will be held at the Assembly Halls of Jehovah’s Witnesses at Lekki, Lagos, Ọta, Ogun and Daluwon, Mowe-Ofada Road, Ogun state. “Last year, nearly 13 million people attended more than 6,000 three-day conventions worldwide.”

According to him, the convention will expectedly fuel the economy of the local cities hosting JW across the two states.

Bolaji stated further that the three-day live event, which is open to the public, will deliver only good news in a world where bad news endlessly streams on social media, TV and radio.

“One of the largest convention organisations in the world returns to Lagos and Ogun states, Southwest Nigeria, with a much-anticipated motivational program to comfort and encourage the public.”

He stated further that the ‘Declare the Good News’ convention will present Bible-based videos, discourses and interviews on topics such as: why do we need good news? What will you do for the sake of the good news; why we don’t fear bad news, and hold firmly to the good news —why and how?

According to him, Saturday spotlights a baptism of candidates from surrounding communities, while a two-part video feature will captivate the audience on Friday and Saturday.

He disclosed that prior to each convention, local congregations will engage in a campaign to invite community members. “We are excited to work once again with city officials in Daluwon, to host our conventions,” Bolaji stated.

The convention is free to attend starting on Fridays from 8:20 a.m. to 3:50 p.m.; Saturday from 8:20 a.m. to 3:50 p.m.; Sunday from 8:20 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Each day has a one-hour and 20-minute lunch break.
