The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), Saturday denied media reports, excluding BusinessDay, that it has received true copy of the Lokoja Federal High Court Ruling directing the commission to deregister the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC).
In an exclusive interview with BusinessDay in Abuja, INEC official who craved anonymity, told our correspondent that the commission’s legal team was yet to access the copy of the judgement.
“Please, don’t misquote me as some media organisations have done. The commission’s legal team is yet to access the copy of the judgement and I don’t think they will get it this weekend. We are hoping to get it on Monday,’ the official said.
Recall that Justice Isah Dashen of the Federal High Court in Lokoja Friday, set aside the previous December 10, 2025 judgement that had compelled INEC to register the NDC. The challenge was brought by the Peace Movement Party (PMP), which claimed its logo was used without inclusion in the initial case.
The court ruled that all actions taken by INEC to register and recognise the NDC were temporarily reversed pending a fresh hearing of the substantive case.
