The Institute of Management and Technology (IMT), Enugu forum, has begun its maiden Global Homecoming starting from June 11 to June 14, 2026.

The organisers of the event described it as a historic gathering of graduates of the institution from across the world.

The four-day event would be the first of its kind since the establishment of the institution in 1973.

It is being organised by the IMT Enugu Alumni Association under the leadership of its National President, Agodi Kanu.

Oliver Ngwoke, chairman of the Central Planning Committee for the Global Homecoming, while speaking at a press briefing in Enugu, said participants were expected to arrive on Thursday, June 11, while official activities would commence on Friday, June 12, with a courtesy visit to the Rector of the institution.

Ngwoke, who also serves as deputy national president of the IMT Alumni Association, disclosed that alumni members would undertake a tour of facilities across the institution before meeting with the Rector.

He said that Friday’s programme would also feature charity visits to selected motherless babies’ homes and an elderly care facility. The day’s activities will further include novelty volleyball matches between the alumni and IMT management teams, as well as between the alumni and students.

According to him, activities on Saturday, June 13, will begin with a fitness walk at Okpara Square, followed by an alumni lecture at the International Conference Centre, Campus III of the institution.

The lecture, themed ‘Alumni as the Mirrors and Ambassadors of Their Alma Mater,’ will be delivered by Queen Ifeoma Osuala, an alumna of IMT and a lecturer at the Federal College of Education (Technical), Omoku, Rivers State.

Ngwoke further revealed that Uchechukwu Sampson Ogah, former minister of State for Mines and Steel Development and president of Masters Energy Group, will deliver the keynote address, while the event will be chaired by George Moghalu, the Labour Party governorship candidate in the 2025 Anambra State election. Both are distinguished alumni of IMT.

A major highlight of the event, he noted, will be the presentation of scholarships to outstanding National Diploma (ND) and Higher National Diploma (HND) students with the highest Cumulative Grade Point Averages (CGPA) under the “Scholars Sparks” initiative introduced by the National Executive Committee of the Alumni Association.

The alumni are also scheduled to pay a courtesy visit to the Governor of Enugu State, Peter Ndubuisi Mbah, at the Government House, Enugu.

The homecoming will climax with a gala dinner and award night, during which notable alumni who have excelled in various professions and contributed significantly to society will be honoured for their achievements.

A thanksgiving service at the Holy Spirit Chapel, IMT Enugu, on Sunday, June 14, will bring the event to a close before participants depart for their respective destinations.

In a telephone interview, President of the Forum of Alumni Associations of IMT Enugu, Agodi Kanu, expressed confidence in the preparations made for the gathering, assuring that all necessary arrangements had been concluded to ensure a successful and memorable event.

He also wished all alumni travelling to Enugu for the homecoming a safe journey.
