How NB PLC made December ‘Detty’ with Rema, others

Since Detty December has become an acceptable parlance in Nigeria, it didn’t come as a surprise that virtually everybody looks forward to that time of the year, when there would be vibrant celebrations, social gatherings, parties, and festivities characterized by high energy, excitement, and fun.

It is always that time that the world comes to Nigeria, giving The Diasporians an opportunity to connect with their roots – cultural diversity, heritage, lifestyles while enjoying good music laced with pop culture and food.

And the Detty December 2024 was not an exception. It was a period filled with laughter, enjoyment, music and more music. From the beginning of the Yuletide period and even up till the New Year, there were several events that ensured tourists, holiday makers and fun lovers never had a boring moment.

Interestingly, most of the events that gave fun seekers the best moment of their lives this Detty December were sponsored by Nigeria breweries PLC. Just as the Yuletide season commenced, the brand became an integral part of the festive period, dishing out events back to back that made December really “Detty”.

In setting the tone for December in Nigeria, NB PLC engineered a series of immersive brand activations. The brand collaborated with some musicians to host a lineup of activities such as concerts, movie premiers, parties, networking hangouts, and other special curated events connected to the culture.

And even as Lagos is the hub of entertainment in Nigeria, the Detty December did not concentrate in the center of excellence alone; virtually all parts of the country got a dose of fun and enjoyment, thanks to the events NB PLC powered and partnered.

With The Big Weekend Xperience in the mid December, residents in cities like Gboko, Abakiliki and Yola will likely not forget in a hurry the dose of fun they had at the events.

Residents at the City of Power caught their own dose of fun and excitement with all the carnivals made possible by the brand.

Ranging from Dutse Carnival to Street Love carnival and down to Gamival, most Abuja residents caught the Detty December bug and they utilized it in its maximum, attending all the carnivals that took place in the city.

Movie lovers also had a swell time during the 2024 Detty December, courtesy Amstel Malta’s Movie in the Park, which was hosted in Lagos.

It was a night of nonstop fun, premium vibes and sleek refreshment, with virtually all the guests gushing and enjoying the ambiance the event provided.

“I have never had this kind of fun in a long while,” says Mariam Sunday, one of the attendees of the Movie in the Park event.

“This is really what I call Detty December. We had so much fun. The movie was awesome and the networking is something I never expected. I am so thrilled and I look forward to all the events that would happen in this town this December,” she merrily added.

And same enthusiasm was captured during The Waiter movie premier, which took place towards the end of December.

“The movie is great, I had a swell time. I appreciate Amstel Malta for being part of this premier. This Season is ending on a high note. I am having a good time already,” Bola Bamishile, an American based Nigerian said.

And the highpoint of Detty December was in Lagos with out of the world music concerts. The much talked about Rema Live in concert, held in Abuja and Lagos will always remain an unforgettable experience.

Young and vibrant award winning singer, Rema, brought down the roof with his biggest hits, including calm Down, Soundgasm and Dumebi.

“This is the mother of all shows, Rema should take his flowers. I have been hearing he is good. I didn’t know he is this good. This is great. I am happy I attended this show. Thanks to the sponsors. It was a great time. I look forward to another Detty December concert in 2025,” says Okechukwu Nwokocha, a guest at the show.

His excitement wasn’t different from that of Kamire Uduak, a Lagos based engineer who also attended the show.

“I could see Nigeria Breweries was part of the brands that sponsored the show. I love the way the brand is making sure this December is fun for everybody. This is just too much. I wish pother brands would emulate this. At least, we have relieved so much stress and tension. The show was a big bang.”

The events of Detty December, especially those powered by the NB brands, have helped in building cultural bridges amongst Nigerians. People look forward to attending events, not minding where it is situated, as long as it will ease off pressure and relieve stress.

Talking about the reason behind the brand’s involvement in this year’s Detty December activities, Sandra Amachree, the Head of Communications- marketing of NB PLC, said the brand is committed to ensuring that Nigerians have a good time always.

“Our goal at NB PLC has always been to create experiences that bring people together in celebration and enjoyment,” she said.

“This past Detty December, we were thrilled to see individuals and communities across Nigeria come alive with the energy at the concerts, carnivals and cultural showcases that we sponsored.

“It was a season of togetherness, laughter and unforgettable moments and we are proud to have played a part in making it so special,” she added.
