FCT minister assures opposition of fair council election

Ahead of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) area council polls for chairmanship and councillorship positions, the Bala Mohammed, minister of FCT, has assured the opposition parties of a fair conduct of the March 14 polls.

Mohammed stated this during visits to Kwali and area councils that his administration was committed to fair polls but warned the parties to desist from using thugs.

The minister, who earlier predicted a landslide victory for the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), urged residents to vote his party to sustain the ongoing transformation agenda of President Goodluck Jonathan.

The Minister had on Tuesday in Gwagwalada and Kuje while flagging off the official campaign for the election for his Party, reiterated that the PDP at the federal, state (FCTA) and the area councils’ levels have performed creditably well as the practical dividends of democracy has been delivered to the people of the Federal Capital Territory.

The Minister remarked that all the campaign promises of President Goodluck Jonathan to the residents of the Federal Capital Territory had been fulfilled as exemplified in the performances of the Federal Government, FCT Administration, and Area Councils’ projects respectively.

The minister particularly praised the FCT Area Councils’ chairmen under the PDP for showing good leadership qualities with the delivering of infrastructure in their respective area councils.
