The rise of nationalism once again where super powers seem to impose wills and wars on smaller nations has come under scrutiny once again.
After the fall of the cold war and bi-polar system (US and Rusia), search for a new world order began, with suggestions for a multi-polar or multilateralism as better form to all many world powers to play on the global scene, instead of only one or two powers.
Now, a group, the Diplomacy and Corporate Communications Conference (DCCC) has continued the search for a new world order and has successfully hosted a high-level web series in commemoration of the International Day of Multilateralism and Diplomacy for Peace, under the theme: ‘Uniting for a Peaceful and Sustainable Future.’
The virtual event brought together a diverse and influential audience, including diplomats, policymakers, communication professionals, development practitioners, media experts, civil society actors, youth leaders, students, and aspiring diplomats from across Africa and beyond.
According to officials, the session provided a platform to re-examine the evolving role of diplomacy and strategic communication in addressing today’s complex global and continental challenges.
Speakers emphasized that effective multilateral engagement and communication remain critical tools for fostering peace, strengthening institutions, and advancing sustainable development.
Participants engaged in insightful discussions on reimagining multilateralism within Africa’s dynamic landscape, highlighting the need for stronger cooperation among states, improved institutional coordination, and inclusive participation across sectors.

A key highlight of the dialogue was the alignment of multilateral efforts with the vision of African Union Agenda 2063, Africa’s blueprint for achieving a peaceful, integrated, and prosperous continent.
Speakers underscored the importance of diplomacy and communication in driving this vision, particularly in promoting unity, inclusion, and long-term stability across the continent.
The conference also emphasized the critical role of youth and non-state actors in shaping the future of multilateral cooperation, calling for a more people-centered approach to diplomacy that empowers emerging leaders and amplifies diverse voices.
DCCC reaffirmed its commitment to fostering dialogue, building capacity, and creating platforms that bridge diplomacy and communication, while equipping young professionals with the knowledge and skills required to contribute meaningfully to global governance and development.
John Best Uche, Convener, delivered an opening address where he enjoined world leaders to seek more communication on issues to reduce tension and give youths a place of hope.
