Czech Republic, Imo government hold partnership meeting on food security

Imo State government and Czech Republic have entered into a partnership to boost food production in the South Eastern state.

The partnership was struck at a meeting recently. It was centred on the exploitation of abundant agricultural and other natural resources in Imo State, with the aim of boosting food production, creating jobs and wealth for the people of the state, especially for the growing unemployed youths and other job seekers.

Zdenek Krejci, ambassador of Czech Republic in Nigeria, who held the discussion with Governor Hope Uzodinma at the Government House, Owerri, decribed the decisions reached at the bilateral meeting were fulfilling.

Governor Uzodinma, who shed more light on the essence and outcome of the meeting, said that it was basically for a partnership venture that would touch on the efforts his government has been making as regards food security, livestock development, natural and solid minerals exploitation, power generation, industrialisation, Orashi dredging, job creation, among other areas of wealth creation for the people.

Uzodinma said that from the discussion, Czech Republic Ambassador was disposed to meaningful partnership with Imo State government in the interest of the public.

He also informed that Krejci was also interested in the education sector of the state, and had indicated keen interest in Imo State University of Agriculture and Environmental Sciences, Umuagwo, in Ohaji/Egbema Local Government Area of the state with emphasis on skill development.

In addition, the Czech Republic Ambassador further noted that Czech Republic has not only discovered areas of interest in Imo State, but shares a lot in common with the state.

He harped on the need for Imo State to tap from Czech Republic’s expertise in agriculture and manufacturing to create a sustainable value chain that would result in massive job creation and employment for the people.

He described the meeting with Governor Uzodinma as fulfilling and promising, and that Czech Republic looks forward to the consummation of the partnership.
