CRC Credit Bureau Limited and Kwara State University (KWASU) have entered into a strategic partnership seen at strengthening both academic output and industry practice.
The three-year renewable agreement signed in Lagos recently will focus on critical areas such as finance, data science, credit management, and students’ employability.
Under the partnership, students of KWASU particularly in economics, finance, business administration, and computer science will benefit from structured internships, industry exposure, and targeted employability training.
It is also expected that the partnership will expose related faculties of the university in a joint research and knowledge exchange between KWASU and CRC to real-time data and resources that will strengthen their research and academic output, and support industry practice.
‘Tunde Popoola, managing director/CEO of CRC Credit Bureau Limited, said the partnership would help to improve graduate employability, industry-aligned curricula, enhanced faculty development, and a stronger institutional reputation.
According to him, the partnership will provide CRC Credit Bureau access to a pool of talented young professionals from the related faculties in KWASU.
He also disclosed that the partnership would also provide opportunities for collaborative research, and innovative insights from academia, while also advancing CRC’s corporate social responsibility (CSR) objectives.
“For us at Kwara State University, we treasure partnerships that advance the frontiers of knowledge and develop communities,” Shaykh-Luqman Jimoh, Vice-Chancellor, Kwara State University, said.
According to him, strong collaboration between academia and industry is foundational for meaningful progress to happen in the country. “This understanding forms the foundation of the partnership we are unveiling today.”
Jimoh added that strategic partnerships bridge the gap between theory and practice, enhance curriculum relevance, expose students to real-world experience, and drive applied research that solves real problems.
“Our belief is that an institution like Kwara State University must go beyond teaching and research to become a catalyst for community and economic transformation,” Jimoh said.
According to him, KWASU is guided by its mission to serve as the fulcrum of a knowledge-driven society by building competencies through creativity and cutting-edge technology.
He added that KWASU will continue to align its teaching, research, and partnerships with national and global development needs.
“This has been the focus of KWASU since it was established in 2009 with the mandate to be a globally competitive institution committed to entrepreneurship and community development,” Jimoh said.
