Cleric urges political leaders to be mindful of utterances amid economic hardship

An Abuja based cleric has urged political leaders in Nigeria to be mindful of their utterances and be empathetic to the plight of Nigerians amid the growing economic hardship in the country.

Joshua Talena, senior pastor, The Shepherd’s House Assembly, Abuja, stated this in Lagos during the 10th anniversary celebration of The Hour of Glory and Liberation Ministry, also known as City of Refuge, with the theme ‘Glory for Dominion and Ascension.’

“One year into the power, they are supposed to study. But they began with wrong decisions. So, we are paying for leadership errors. It was bad, but it became worse still. Now, we can’t retrieve it other than to just manage it. I am asking our leaders to think before they talk,” Talena stated.

He equally urged the government to lay out a short, medium and long term plan to get the country out of the current economic challenges. “Our leaders need to be selfless.”

Talena however reassured Nigerians that there is hope for the country, if leaders can take up their responsibilities, by becoming selfless and focused.

According to the cleric, Nigeria is suffering from bad decisions made during the Buhari administration without wide consultations with the Nigerian people. He stated further that with proper planning the government can provide the nation with a vision to propel Nigeria’s prosperity, pointing out that the nation needs a direction.

Speaking on the church anniversary, Talena said that the celebration represents a decade of great impact, at a time the ministry is stepping into glory. “For a long time, the ministry has laboured, done a lot of planting. They have entered their harvest season. And that is why I have come, to activate that harvest season.”

Godwin Edgal, founder and senior pastor, The Hour of Glory and Liberation Ministry, stated that the anniversary was a milestone achievement for the ministry on the back of God’s faithfulness.

“For keeping us in these past 10 years, we believe our God is faithful. We are celebrating God’s grace and mercy for this commission. Our mandate is to win souls, and to plant this ministry in all the states and all the continents of the world,” he stated.
