Political leaders of Persons With Disabilities (PWDs) in the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Oshodi-Isolo Federal Constituency II have endorsed frontline House of Representatives aspirant, Kehinde Bamigbetan, ahead of the 2027 election.
The endorsement came during an interaction between Bamigbetan and PWD leaders held at the APC secretariat in Isolo, Lagos.
The meeting was coordinated by Temitope Agbabiaka, representative of PWDs in the APC, Isolo Local Council Development Area chapter, alongside his Ejigbo counterpart, Rose Uti.
Addressing ward executives and cluster heads representing the blind, deaf and albino communities, Bamigbetan commended the Lagos State Government for promoting inclusion through the establishment of the Lagos State Office for Disability Affairs (LASODA).
He recalled serving in the administration of former governor Akinwunmi Ambode, which created a N500 million Disability Fund, and pledged to expand support for PWDs if elected.
According to a statement by the Head of Campaign Communications, Paul Fregene, Bamigbetan promised to launch a transportation scheme dedicated to PWDs, beginning with one bus each for Isolo and Ejigbo council areas to ease mobility challenges.
He also pledged to attract local and international grants to empower persons with disabilities and advocated inclusive education rather than segregated schools, arguing that integration would promote equality and social acceptance.
Bamigbetan further promised to establish a dedicated PWD desk at his constituency office and push for the enforcement of the five per cent employment quota for PWDs in public service.
“He assured the PWD community of regular engagement and pledged to remain accessible and committed to their welfare,” the statement added.
Speaking on behalf of the group, Agbabiaka commended Bamigbetan for showing genuine concern for persons with disabilities and expressed confidence in his promises.
