…Ngozi Okolie rejects election result
Ndudi Elumelu, former member representing Aniocha/Oshimili Federal Constituency is set to fly the the ticket of the All Progressives Congress (APC) as the party’s candidate for same federal constituency come 2027 general election.
Elumelu, a three-time representative of the federal constituency, defeated the incumbent Ngozi Okolie at the primary elections held in the four Local Government Areas that make up the federal constituency, promising his constituents that with the party’s ticket, if he win the next year’s general election, he would give them back all that they had lost in the three years of Okolie representing them at National Assembly.
He disclosed this in his acceptance speech shortly after Val Arenyenka, the electoral officer, declared him winner of the primary election.
The outcome of this exercise has bolstered the confidence and support our people have for the APC.
“It also underscores our party’s sensitivity to the yearnings of the people of Aniocha/Oshimili Federal Constituency for a return of the era of impactful representation in the House of Representatives, which I embody; an era marked by attraction of massive life-enhancing projects in infrastructural and citizen empowerment projects, which have eluded us in the last three years.
“Indeed, our people cannot wait to return to that era when the voice of our Constituency reverberated in the House of Representatives; when our Constituency ranked highest in Nigeria in the execution of constituency projects across all the communities in our constituency in critical sectors of education, agriculture and food security, healthcare, road construction, housing, electricity among others.
“This ticket therefore belongs to the collective aspiration of the people of Aniocha/Oshimili Federal Constituency for a better life. It is a unity ticket; a symbol that our people always rise above parochial divisive tendencies and innuendos and speak with one voice. Today, they have spoken with one voice and come 2027, they will still speak with one voice for the APC.
“I am aware of the enormous responsibility before me. Our people expect me to do more, and with your support, I am ready and set for the task ahead. With me as a ranking member, our Constituency will have a stronger visibility, stronger connection and stronger voice in the House of Representatives.
This stronger connection and voice will translate to more development projects, more jobs and more empowerment for our people. I have already marshaled out strategies to effectively engage this opportunity in an unprecedented way for the wellbeing of our people. Under my representation, Aniocha/Oshimili will take back its pride of place in the National Assembly and the nation”, Elumelu assured.
He however made it clear that he cannot do the work alone as he called the unity of the people to ensure victory for the party in 2027 general elections.
He pleaded with the other aspirants and every aggrieved member of the party to embrace the spirit of sportsmanship and come together in the overall interest of the people.
Okolie has strongly condemned the primaries, citing massive irregularities, timeline manipulation, and a blatant disregard for party rules.
He said that the fundamental guidelines of the party were completely ignored. Instead of allowing only verified, card-carrying party members to cast their ballots as required, non-card-carrying individuals were used to fill the space while genuine voters were sidelined.
He rejected the exercise, warning that an engineered process that shuts out real party members can never truly stand.
