A camera like Usain Bolt

Jamaican sprinter Usain Bolt is arguably one of the most gifted athletes to grace the Olympics. He won three gold medals at the 2008 Olympic Games in Beijing, China, and became the first man in Olympic history to win both the 100-metre and 200-metre races in record times. Bolt won his fourth Olympic gold medal in the men’s 100-metre race at the 2012 Summer Olympic Games in London, beating fellow Jamaican and rival Yohan Blake, who took silver. Bolt ran the race in 9.63 seconds, a new Olympic record. There is a camera that shares similar traits as the speedster Bolt – the Samsung NX300. This sleek device is super-fast with its ability to capture life’s most fleeting moments as well as share them instantaneously.

In view of this, Samsung Electronics West Africa, a subsidiary of Samsung Electronics Company Limited, has announced the launch of the NX300, in partnership with the world global athletic icon, Usain Bolt, renowned for his extreme focus and speed; making him the ideal champion for the NX300. The camera promises an outstanding performance that rivals the speed of the world’s fastest man. Samsung is also working with Usain Bolt Foundation to provide photography equipment and lessons to aspiring young photographers. Under the name ‘NX Junior Photographer’, Samsung will help them to achieve their dreams and goals through providing the guidance needed to excel.

Brovo Kim, managing director, Samsung Electronics West Africa (SEWA), said that the multiple Olympic gold medallist and owner of three world records, Usain Bolt, is widely acknowledged as the best in his class and the partnership with Samsung will showcase the parallels between Bolt’s exceptional status and the features of the Samsung NX300, through a host of exciting initiatives.

Speaking on some of the features of the device, director, Hand Held Devices, Samsung Electronics West Africa, Emmanouil Revmatas, said the NX300 CSC is super-fast. According to him, “Using the Hybrid Auto Focus (AF) system, budding photographers can hone in on subjects quickly and easily, even in crowded locations. Now users can achieve the most precise, high quality results possible with the push of a button. The NX300 can shoot up to 8.6 continuous frames per second with its super-fast 1/6000 sec shutter speed to ensure no detail is missed even if the subject of your shot is moving at Bolt’s record breaking pace.”

Revmatas added that the fast Wi-Fi connectivity of the NX300 allows users to instantaneously and directly upload their photos to social networking sites or send them to their smartphone simply and easily with AutoShare function, right from their camera so that their network can share their experiences as they happen.

The Samsung Smart Camera NX300 has already received critical acclaim as the Best CSC Advanced in the 2013 Technical Image Press Association Awards, making it the best advanced compact system camera (CSC) in the market. Its 20.3 Megapixel APS-C CMOS sensor allows users to take images that boast sharp, life-like colours which are crisp and clear in all light conditions. Taking beautifully balanced images even in the darkest conditions is also made possible by the NX300’s wide ISO range (ISO100-25600), while its brand new Hybrid Auto Focus (AF) system delivers fast, accurate phase and contrast detection.

Other Samsung devices that got an award include the Samsung GALAXY Camera which won Best Mobile Imaging Device by “redefining the connected camera genre”, as stated by the TIPA judges. As the world’s first android-based 3G camera, the GALAXY Camera combines the professional quality of a high-end camera and the freedom of 3G/4G and Wi-Fi connectivity, allowing users to instantly share high quality images with their friends and family. Once captured, users can easily view and edit images on the camera’s impressive 4.8-inch HD Super Clear Touch Display.

Samsung 45mm f/1.8 (2D/3D) lens, the world’s first one-lens 3D system for a consumer camera, was also awarded by the TIPA judges as the Best Mobile Imaging Innovation device. Capable of capturing both stills and 1080p Full HD video in perfect 3D, with the Samsung 45mm f/1.8 (2D/3D) lens users can choose to take 2D or 3D images without changing lens by simply turning on the 3D mode. Samsung in addition was awarded Best Photo TV for its F8000 Smart LED 2D/3D TV as it changes the way users view images on their TVs by allowing them, according to the TIPA judges, “to interact with the images and share them on social networks, work with apps, and use the TV as an image hub with numerous devices”.
