Oriji Tobias Nnabuike, governorship candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC) in Ebonyi State, has emerged through a consensus arrangement ahead of the 2027 gubernatorial election in the state.
Nnabuike emerged during the party’s governorship primary election held in Abakaliki on Friday, with party officials describing the exercise as peaceful, transparent and successful across the 171 wards of the state.
Speaking shortly after his emergence, Nnabuike expressed confidence that the ADC would unseat the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in the 2027 governorship election.

He stated that his ambition was driven by the desire to address challenges facing the state, particularly in the areas of electricity supply, youth empowerment and economic development.
According to him, his administration would focus on agriculture, job creation and policies aimed at improving the living conditions of Ebonyi people if elected governor.
Jennifer Adibe, the Ebonyi State chairman of the ADC, said the party successfully conducted its primaries for governorship, State House of Assembly, House of Representatives and Senate positions ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Adibe noted that the party adopted both consensus and direct primary methods depending on the number of aspirants contesting for various positions.
She further commended security agencies, for ensuring adequate security during the exercise.
Pascale Okafor, Chairman of the Ebonyi State Primary Election Committee, described the exercise as peaceful and conducted in line with the Electoral Act.
