What you were never told about love

What will the world have been like without love? I wonder aloud in my head. I know from experience that life is already very hard, complicated and difficult. Therefore, Love is a softener when things are hard.

A life without love is unthinkable, unbearable and unimaginable. It will be filled with people with hardened hearts filled with hate, envy, jealousy wickedness and committing one tragedy after the other… like I said, it is unimaginable.

You cannot live life without love and it’s not just about having somebody to love, it is also about learning to love yourself.

Self-love is about self-appreciation, which is a great foundation to survive every challenging situation.

When you love yourself and you’re facing a difficult life, you are able to find compassion for yourself which enables you eradicate limiting beliefs, negative self-talk, self-sabotage, procrastination, impostor syndrome and self-doubt .

When you eliminate all these negative things that a lot of people are affected by, you can live a life filled with purpose, aspiration, determination, and this leads you to becoming more successful in your job or in your career or in your business.

So, as you wonder about this thing called love, first and foremost, know that it starts with you whether you are married or single, if you do not love yourself, you cannot even be able to love someone else.

If you do not love yourself, you will not be able to show up as the best version of who you are in order to make that marriage work.

I have been married for almost 25 years and I know when I was in my early 20s when I got married for the first time, self-love was a very alien concept and I had never heard about it. I didn’t know what it felt like and definitely did not even practice it in my own life.

Now, almost 25 years later, I encourage my clients to practice self-love because it led me to understanding the strength that I have as a person, it enables me to show up as the strong version of myself and reduce my codependency in my marriage to become a more wholesome person.

Because one of the biggest lie they tell you about getting married is that it will complete you. You need to be aware that you have to be complete before you get into a marriage. Your marriage can only work if you come with your full self and the other person comes with his full self, and both of you put heads together as partners for the common good that will enhance yourselves together as a collective.

Therefore, you must already be “complete.” You must already know what you need, what you want, what your aspirations are and the other person is a co-facilitator to your aspiration, your dreams and ambitions.

Sometimes, they may not support something you like to do, but because you’re wholesome in whom you are, you don’t take that as an indication that you’re not loved. Because you love yourself, you are able to facilitate what you need for yourself until your partner is able to eventually come around.

Love truly makes the world go round. It’s the best thing that we all need in order to find life more bearable and fulfilling.

It is painful when we allow political views, economic downturns, religious affiliations, social affiliations, societal dictates to limit how we perceive loving another human being.

The greatest attributes of love that I really truly like is that love is patient, love is kind and love is enduring. I like these three attributes of love because when you have that at the back of your mind, you try to keep going no matter what.

I want to encourage you that you must never give up on finding that love that you need for yourself and that love that you know you deserve for somebody else to have for you.

Sometimes, it takes maturity to understand how truly deep true love is. It’s like a bottomless ocean, you cannot get to the end of love.

Love is a journey in most situations as well. It may not be in your reality at the moment, but let it always be in your heart and that’s why the beginning of having love in your life is self-love.
