Uzo Aduba to lead Netflix’s ‘The Residence’

Uzoamaka Nwanneka “Uzo” Aduba a Nigerian American actress is set to star as the lead of Netflix upcoming original mini series ‘The Residence’. Uzo Aduba as she is popularly known gained wide recognition for her role as Suzanne “Crazy Eyes” Warren on the Netflix original series ‘Orange Is the New Black’.

The movie is an adaptation of Kate Andersen Brower’s book ‘The Residence: Inside the Private World of the White House’. Netflix has slotted March 20 for the premiere of the Shondaland’s comedic murder-mystery drama series.

Aduba stars as Cordelia Cupp, a consulting detective for the Metropolitan Police Department. Known for her wry humor, relentless pursuit of truth, and sharp eye for human behavior, Cupp is the most sought-after detective in the world—and an avid birder to boot. Randall Park who stars as a co-lead actor plays FBI Special Agent Edwin Park, who is tasked with partnering with Cupp during a high-stakes State Dinner.

The series also stars Giancarlo Esposito, Edwina Findley, Molly Griggs, Jason Lee, Ken Marino, Al Mitchell, Dan Perrault, Bronson Pinchot, Julieth Restrepo, Mel Rodriguez, Susan Kelechi Watson, Isiah Whitlock Jr., Mary Wiseman and more. Paul William Davies serves as creator, showrunner, writer and executive producer. Shonda Rhimes and Betsy Beers also executive produce.

Aduba released her debut memoir ‘The Road Is Good: How a Mother’s Strength Became a Daughter’s Purpose’ on September 10. The book follows her childhood in an all-white neighborhood, her mothers determination rooted in her sense of self as a Nigerian woman, and Aduba plans to instill the same worth in her children.
