She barely brushed her teeth, she believed she drank a lot of water therefore her mouth was always clean. At work, her colleagues called her Stinky Lami behind her back.

Lami’s lack of care led to body odor that made others uncomfortable around her and caused her to lose friends. Additionally, she developed skin infections due to not showering or cleaning herself properly. Lami’s dental problems were also a result of poor hygiene. Because she rarely brushed her teeth and did not floss regularly, she developed cavities and tooth decay. Her bad breath made it difficult for her to communicate with others effectively.

As time went on, Lami realised that neglecting personal hygiene had serious consequences that affected both her physical health and social life. She began taking steps towards improving her hygiene practices by showering regularly, brushing and flossing daily, using deodorant and wearing clean clothes. Through this experience, Lami learnt that taking care of herself was important not only for her health, but also for her relationships with others.

2. Brushing your teeth twice a day with fluoride toothpaste and flossing daily are essential habits for keeping your teeth healthy. Poor dental care can lead to bad breath, yellow teeth and gum diseases which can make individuals feel self-conscious about their appearance leading to low self-esteem.

3. Covering our mouths when coughing or sneezing and avoiding close contact with sick individuals can significantly reduce the risk of contracting illnesses such as the flu or common cold.

4. Regular bathing, wearing clean clothes, and keeping our surroundings clean. When we feel clean and fresh, it boosts our mood and confidence levels. A regular shower or bath can provide a sense of relaxation and rejuvenation which can help alleviate stress and anxiety. Bathing or showering removes dirt and bacteria from the skin, preventing skin infections and body odour. Brushing teeth twice a day helps prevent cavities, gum diseases and bad breath. Wearing clean clothes reduces the risk of skin infections caused by bacteria on clothing.
