Screen Nigeria is a key component of the broader ‘Nigeria Everywhere’ campaign, which aims to showcase the nation’s rich talent, encourage international collaboration, and ensure a prominent Nigerian presence at major film festivals worldwide. By consolidating the efforts of various industry stakeholders, the FMATCCE intends to significantly bolster Nollywood’s position and influence in the global film market.
A significant challenge faced by many Nigerian creators, despite Nollywood’s recognised success, is limited access to the global market. Screen Nigeria is designed to bridge this gap by actively promoting Nigeria as a premier destination for film productions and outsourced audiovisual work. This includes post-production, animation, and game creation, thereby diversifying and expanding the industry’s reach.
According to the FMATCCE, Screen Nigeria will highlight Nigeria’s audiovisual excellence and, actively support international collaborations, and attract foreign investment. This strategic approach is expected to substantially enhance the industry’s economic impact and drive job creation within the sector.
A key feature of Screen Nigeria at global film festivals will be the establishment of a dedicated Nigerian Pavilion. This pavilion will serve as a central hub for industry engagements, networking opportunities, and facilitating business deals. It will provide a specific space for filmmakers, investors, and other stakeholders to connect, ensuring a strong and impactful Nigerian presence at these events.
