Netflix 2025 lineup New films, series, and games announced incoming

Netflix has unveiled its upcoming slate of films, series, and games for 2025 at its annual showcase at the Egyptian Theatre in Los Angeles. The event featured Chief Content Officer Bela Bajaria, who highlighted the platform’s strategy for the year ahead. The showcase was live-streamed across 12 countries, with appearances from industry figures, including Guillermo del Toro, Ben Affleck, Tina Fey, CM Punk, Rhea Ripley, and the Duffer Brothers.

Netflix’s film lineup for 2025 includes projects from established filmmakers. Guillermo del Toro’s ‘Frankenstein’ is a long-anticipated project with a personal connection for the director. ‘RIP’, starring Ben Affleck and Matt Damon, is a crime thriller designed to keep audiences engaged. Tyler Perry returns with ‘Madea’s Destination Wedding’ and ‘She The People’.

Comedy is a significant focus, with ‘The Four Seasons’, a new adaptation of the 1981 film, led by Tina Fey. High-profile series include ‘Death by Lightning’ from David Benioff and D.B. Weiss, ‘Zero Day’ with Robert De Niro, and ‘Black Rabbit’ featuring Jason Bateman and Jude Law. Netflix is also expanding its unscripted content, introducing ‘Building the Band’, a performance-style show, and ‘Million Dollar Secret’, a social experiment.

Netflix is increasing its presence in live programming. ‘TUDUM’, its global fan event, will be streamed live from Los Angeles on May 31. John Mulaney’s ‘Everybody’s Live’ will premiere as a weekly late-night show starting March 12.

Returning series include ‘Stranger Things’, ‘Wednesday’, and ‘Squid Game’. The final season of ‘Squid Game’ is set for June 27. Wednesday has completed production and will release later in the year. The Duffer Brothers have described the next season of ‘Stranger Things’ as their most personal work.

Netflix is expanding its gaming division. Squid Game: Unleashed is expected to be one of its most downloaded games. Other upcoming gaming adaptations include titles inspired by Ginny & Georgia, Sweet Magnolias, Love is Blind, and Single’s Inferno. Netflix will also be the exclusive home for WWE 2K mobile games.

Other announcements include a creative partnership with Lena Dunham and a new global toy line from Stranger Things in collaboration with Jazwares. Upcoming documentary projects include Air Force Elite: Thunderbirds, American Manhunt: Osama Bin Laden, Chaos: The Manson Murders, and Gone Girls: The Long Island Serial Killer.

Netflix has also provided new details on upcoming releases. ‘The Old Guard 2’ will be available on July 2. ‘Havoc’ will be released in the spring. ‘Fear Street: Prom Queen’ is set for summer, while ‘A Merry Little Ex-Christmas’ will arrive in the autumn. Major film releases in the autumn include ‘Jay Kelly’, ‘RIP’, ‘The Woman in Cabin 10’, and an untitled Kathryn Bigelow project. The Knives Out sequel, ‘Wake Up Dead Man: A Knives Out Mystery’, will also debut in the autumn. ‘Frankenstein’ is scheduled for release in November.

Netflix’s 2025 strategy aims to provide a mix of films, series, documentaries, live events, and gaming experiences. The platform continues to position itself as a leader in content across multiple formats, reaching audiences in over 50 languages.
