Get energized by lively Lagos

Nok by Alara FOOD

Musical performances, food festivals, and unique exhibitions light up this city. A word of caution though, pace yourself! Spread a Lagos vacation over a few days that will leave you well rested and entertained. Plan a boat ride to Ilashe Beach or Tarkwa Bay and relax Atlantic blue ocean style. Set up a barbecue stand, order some Jollof Rice and have everyone bring some snacks for a picnic.

Surfers may want to choose Tarkwa Bay, while the private swimming pools at Ilashe are excellent for a pool party. The party continues with a string of Broadway style productions and concerts. Wakaa the Musical returns for a second run at the newly remodeled Terrakulture Arena. Let the actors, singers, and dancers give you a taste of the city from the stage every Sunday in April.

At Eko Hotel, Fela! The Broadway Musical energizes the city with Afrobeat from Thursday, April 13 to Saturday, April 15. Take an Uber and save yourself the stress of parking. Remember you are here for the fun.  Family fun is guaranteed at Omu Resort, the perfect spot for archery, quad biking, and zoo sightings.

GTBank’s annual Food & Drink Fair will let you explore your foodie side for two days. Chef Marcus Samuelsson was at last year’s edition, dishing out master classes. Who will be at this edition? Mark your calendars and find out on April 30 and May 1. There will be exhibitions, a kids’ arena, and Farmers’ Market at the Water Corporation grounds.

Art runs like wires through the walls of The Ben Enwonu Foundation owned Omenka Gallery. Raqib Bashorun’s exhibition, “Realm of Freedom” is currently on display until April 5. This is an excellent spot for a sumptuous lunch of traditional Nigerian food with friends, so plan an “Eat Art” outing.

During the month of April, check out futuristic contemporary space Alara Lagos. Treat yourself to one of the exquisitely Nigerian dishes prepared with a twist and served in fine dining portions at the Nok by Alara restaurant.

Visit and let Lagos infuse you with art, music, food, fun, and theater in the getaway of a lifetime.
