Four budding visual artists are opening the festive season’s art show with ‘Introspection’, a joint exhibition by the foursome at Soto Gallery Ikoyi.
The artists include; Chukwumereogo Okeke, Emmanuel Ifoegbuike, Adaoma Nnabeze, and Simon Iloani, the majority of whom are undergraduates from the Visual Arts Department of the University of Nigeria Nsukka and an artist represented by SOTO Gallery.
They participated in the SOTO Residency, an artist-focused initiative aimed at deepening artistic practice.
The works from the residency are what the artists are presenting at the exhibition.

The programme is designed to be compact yet immersive, with an itinerary that encompasses fundamental theoretical work and heavy emphasis on academic research and writing, as well as more experiential cultural and ideological exchanges through museum excursions, studio visits, and gallery tours.
At the heart of the programme is the promotion of curiosity by making contact with all relevant stakeholders within the industry, encouraging questions, responses, and feedback, as well as creating access to the Lagos art scene – a living, breathing ecosystem of organizations, galleries, artists, and communities that may otherwise seem impenetrable to newcomers and young artists.

The opening ceremony will feature a panel discussion with the artists and will be moderated by Tracian Meikle at 4 pm.
‘Introspection’ opens today December 1, 2023, at SOTO Gallery, # 10 Omo Osagie Street, Ikoyi, Lagos.
