Carnival organisers unveil face Of Tiv International Pageant 

Kano Tiv Carnival has unveiled the Face of Tiv International Pageant 2020 in Makurdi, the Benue State capital.

Briefing newsmen shortly before the ceremony, founder and President, Face of Tiv International, Aondofa Kusah explained that the Pageantry was meant to promote and celebrate Tiv cultural heritage and beauty. It was also to empower the Tiv young women especially single ladies between the ages of 24 and 27 years with sound academic background.  He added that the initiative was aimed at discovering, developing and showcasing raw and unique talents in young Tiv women so as to produce Ambassadors who will represent the Tiv nation as role models and be able to give back to the society.

Kusah noted that the society is now in an era of increased social vices such as rape, child trafficking, domestic violence against women, challenges of girl child education, Communal crisis and kidnapping, hence the need to empower young and intelligent Ambassadors who will lead in creating further awareness for the fight against the aforementioned evil acts.

The Convener disclosed that the grand finale of the Face of Tiv International Pageant will hold on 23rd November 2020 during which five crowns will be won by the thirteen contestants while the grand winner goes home with a brand new car (jeep) and will be given scholarship according to her academic strength and value, whereas consolation prizes will be given to the runners-up.

Kusah assured that the contest will be free and fair, saying the organizers will observe a high level of professionalism, integrity, and accountability in order to meet the international standards and global best practice for pageantry.

He solicited patronage, partnership and sponsorship from well-meaning individuals, groups, and corporate organizations as well as the media for their support in terms of campaign and publicity.

Some of the contestants who spoke with BusinessDay including;  Mlumun Veronica Iortyer, Tarhemba Maureen Msooter, Awuapila Sewuese Josephine, Doowuese Gabriella, Umah Dooyum Jessica, Yaor Priscilla Doofan, Bossha Beatrice Doowuese, Lois Ishughun Mogen, and Rosemary Iveren Agber, disclosed their intentions for participating in the pageant as seeking empowerment through the platform to fight against social vices and to be able to help the less privileged and girls who are looking up to them for modeling. Every contestant expressed confidence to clinch the first position as according to them, they possessed all the required qualifications laid down by the organizers.
