Grammy-nominated artist Asake has become the first artist globally to release a live album on Spotify; the album includes performances from his fourth studio album, M$NEY, along with four new singles.
Asake’s performance was captured live at London’s historic Theatre Royal Drury Lane, and documents the Nigerian star’s landmark one-night-only performance of his album.
According to the company, close to 2,000 Asake fans filled the historic venue for the special, invite-only event, including many of his top Spotify listeners. He performed alongside a live orchestra, a 40-person choir, and renowned live band The Compozers, singing hits from the project alongside four unreleased songs, in what marked the first time an Afrobeats artist has headlined a venue of Theatre Royal Drury Lane’s stature and heritage.
The release became the latest in a run of exclusive live performance content available on Spotify, following other live performance films in recent months, including Bad Bunny in Tokyo, Olivia Rodrigo in Barcelona, and Sky Newman in London.
The films are accompanied by an audio-only live album, Asake ‘Money’ Live in London. The film and associated video content are exclusive to Spotify at launch. In celebration of its release, Spotify held an exclusive premiere screening event at its recently opened Listening Lounge in central London.
“This performance was a reflection of everything M$NEY represents – gratitude, growth, my spiritual and creative journey all in one. Everything flows from a place of gratitude to God and every moment that’s shaped me, and I hope that comes through,” Asake said.
Asake said the album tour will commence later in 2026.
The album remains one of the top-streamed albums in the Nigerian music space, with songs such as Gratitude, Forgiveness and ‘MCBH’ ranking on Turntable Charts’ top 10 streaming songs of the week between July 10th and July 16th. Gratitude ranked top of the list with a reported 2.7 million streams across all platforms during the time period.
Upon release, M$NEY racked up over 10 million streams within the first 24 hours of release, topping streaming charts in more than 19 countries, including Nigeria, and peaked at No. 8 in the United States. Following the album’s success, Asake was ranked the No. 15 digital artist globally by Kworb Data, joining a list that includes some of the world’s biggest music stars.
