…As focus shifts to prose genre
The Advisory Board for The Nigeria Prize for Literature, sponsored by the Nigeria LNG (NLNG) Limited, has published the Call for Entries for the 2025 edition of the prize, flagging off this year’s competitions.
The Literature prize, which is now in its 21st year, comes with a cash prize of $USD100, 000.
This year, The Nigeria Prize for Literature, which rotates among four literary genres, namely Prose Fiction, Poetry, Drama and Children’s Literature, will focus on Prose Fiction and will also honour the author of the best book by a Nigerian.
The Call for Entries for the Literature prize will close by midnight on April 2, 2025.
According to the Advisory Board, Professor Saeedat Bola Aliyu is the chairperson of the panel of judges for this year’s competition.
Other panel members include: Professor Mbanefo Ogene; Professor Olakunle Kasumu, while Grace Musta is the international consultant.
The members of the Advisory Board include; Akachi Adimora-Ezigbo, Olu Obafemi and Ahmed Yerima, who are all professors.
Meanwhile, the winner of the Nigeria Prize for Literature, if any, will be announced at an award ceremony in October 2025.
The Nigeria Prize for Literature is part of NLNG’s contribution towards helping to build a better Nigeria.
