Update: Sanusi, deposed Emir of Kano, on his way to Lagos- Channels TV

Emir Sanusi

Sanusi Lamido Sanusi, the former Emir of Kano who was deposed on Monday, is on his way to Lagos, Channels TV reported.

Kano State government, beyond dethroning Sanusi, also banished him to Awe Local Government Area of Nasarawa State, where he has been under house arrest since then.

However, an Abuja High Court on Friday ordered an immediate release of the former Emir from the house arrest in Awe, arguing that it breached his fundamental human rights.

The News Agency of Nigeria earlier reported that Sanusi left Awe at about 4:27 p.m. Friday in company of Gov Nasir el-Rufai of Kaduna, after observing the Friday congregational prayers.

INAN reported that Sanusi had led the Friday Juma’at prayer at the Awe Central Mosque, where he admonished Muslims to take whatever situation they found themselves in, as destiny.

He encouraged the faithful to always live with the fear of God and accept whatever predicament that befell them in good faith and prayed for the peace and development of the country.
