Don’t get trapped in the heavy traffic build-ups that have become the order of the day on Third Mainland Bridge following its partial closure for repairs by the Federal Government.
Take the alternative routes which have been made more motorable by the Lagos State government to ease vehicular movement and reduce the level stress triggered on the roads as a result of the bridge closure.
Here are some of the alternative routes that you can take advantage of while the repair works last for the next six months, July 24, 2020 to January 23, 2021.
The routes inwards the Lagos Island are: Iddo inwards Carter Bridge, Market Road inwards Herbert Macaulay Road and Herbert Macaulay Road by Abeokuta Street, as well as Herbert Macaulay by Cemetery and Apapa Road inwards Oyingbo, all of which have been fixed.
Remember, the first phase of the bridge rehabilitation which had already commenced focuses on Oworonshoki inwards Lagos Island in the morning with traffic diversion from midnight to 1.00pm.
Lagos Island inwards Oworonshoki, on the other hand, will divert traffic in the afternoon from 1.00pm to midnight.
If you are driving out from the island and heading towards Ikeja and Ikorodu Road from Osborne Road, Ikoyi, in the morning, it’s advisable you make use of Carter Bridge to access Eko Bridge through Ijora Olopa.
This will lead you through Funsho Williams Avenue to Doman Long Bridge to Ikorodu or use Carter Bridge to Iddo through Oyingbo to Herbert Macaulay to Jibowu and link Ikorodu Road.
If you driving out from Victoria Island, it pays you to utilise Ozumba Mbadiwe Road to Falomo Bridge through Alfred Rewane to Old Kingsway Road, Osborne to Ilubirin and Carter Bridge.
