The Senate has referred the screening of Godwin Emefiele as Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN) to its Committee on Banking, Insurance and other Financial Institutions.
Senate President, Bukola Saraki who presided over plenary on Tuesday asked the Rafiu Ibrahim-led panel to report back in one week.
In a letter read on the floor of the Senate last Thursday, President Muhammadu Buhari had asked the Senate to confirm the reappointment of Godwin Emefiele as Governor of the apex bank for a second and final term of five years.
Motion for the referral was moved by Senate Leader, Ahmad Lawan (APC, Yobe) and seconded by Senate Minority Whip, Phillip Aduda (PDP, FCT).
