Nigeria misses out on World’s most powerful nation ranking

Nigeria, Africa’s largest economy and most populous nations, has missed out of the World’s most powerful ranking list.

According to the 2020 Best Countries ranking compiled by the US News and World Report, Egypt, South Africa, Morocco, Kenya, Ghana and Tunisia, are the only Africa countries that made the list of 76 countries.

In its previous 2019 report, Egypt, South Africa and Nigeria were listed among 80 most powerful countries on earth.

The report chose the most powerful countries by analysing those that consistently dominate news headlines, preoccupy policymakers and shape global economic patterns.

“Their foreign policies and military budgets are tracked religiously. When they pledge, at least some in the international community trust they will keep it,” usnews.com said.

The ranking which was carried out in collaboration with BAV Group and the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania, also stated that Switzerland is the most powerful nation in the world.

The ranking sought answers from more than 20,000 people from four regions to associate 73 countries with specific attributes.
