LIRS admits to breach of data on tax payment platform

Lagos State Internal Revenue Service (LIRS) has admitted to the breach of customers’ data on its payment platform, saying the incident is being investigated.

Chairman of LIRS, Ayodele Subair, in a statement issued on Friday night, claimed that the attention has been drawn to a possible data breach through the use of “our recently enabled payment platform deployed to ease payment of taxes by members of the public.”

According to Subair, the full nature and extent of the breach is being investigated.

All stakeholders, including the public, the LIRS chair, said, shall be kept informed of the investigation, while regreting any inconveniences that the breaj may have been caused.

“Our esteemed taxpayers are hereby assured of our unwavering commitment to data security and protection,” said Subair.
