The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has declared Diri Duoye, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), governorship candidate as the validly elected Governor of Bayelsa State, following Thursday’s s Supreme Court judgement.
INEC Chairman, Mahmood Yakubu who announced the decision of the Commission after several hours of meeting in Abuja said, the Commission will consequently issued him the Certificate of return to enable his inauguration.
The Supreme Court judgement had sacked the Bayelsa Governor-elect David Lyon and his Deputy, Biobarakuma Degi-Eremieoyo and ordered for the withdrawal of his Certificate of Return and issuance of it to Duoye who came second in November Bayelsa governorship polls.
INEC is at the moment waiting the arrival of the PDP candidate for the presentation of the Certificate of Return.
