Don’t allow the virus dominate your lives, Trump tells Americans as he returns to White House

Donald Trump-2

Barely five days after being quarantined for contracting the novel coronavirus, U.S president, Donald Trump, has returned to the White House, urging Americans never to allow the deadly disease to dominate their lives.

Trump who was hospitalised in Walter Reed National Military Medical Centre on Monday, after he and his wife alongside more than a dozen of his staff in White House were reported to have contracted the virus, was seen getting off his chopper and wearing a facemask for the first time in a long time.

In a video which he posted on his official twitter handle, Trump claimed he feels better than he has felt 20 years ago. And he could have even been back two days ago.

“I just left Walter Reed Medical centre and it’s something very special. I learnt something about the coronavirus and one thing that is certain is that don’t let it dominate you, don’t be afraid of it, Trump said

“We are going to beat it. We have the best medical equipment. We have the best medicines all developed recently. I went, I didn’t feel so good. But two days ago, I could have left because I felt great. Better than what I felt in a long time,”

“So, don’t let it dominate you. Don’t let it take over your lives. We are the greatest country in the world. We are going back to work. We’re going to be out front. As your leader, I had to do it. I knew it was dangerous but I stood out front and I did it,” Trump said in the video.

Ahead of his presidential election scheduled to hold in November, the US president has been blamed for his poor handling of the pandemic that has cost the lives of over 200,000 Americans.

Irrespective of the numbers, Trump, the flag bearer of the Republican Party has called for the full reopening of the US economy, including schools, noting that the continued lockdown will kill the economy. This has been greatly opposed by the Democrats which controls a higher number in the House of Representatives.

Critics say the president’s come back to the White House was a show of recklessness and an attempt to convert his still-ongoing disease into a show of strength.

According to Trump, no great leader won’t do what he did. “I know there is a risk and there is a danger that’s okay but I am better, maybe I am immune, I don’t know,”.

“But don’t let it dominate your lives. Get out there and be careful. We have the best medicine in the world and it will happen very shortly. And they are all getting approved. And the vaccines are coming in monetarily,” he said.
