Covid-19: Nigeria’s daily infection jumps to 338, 2 weeks after lockdown eased

Nigeria on Sunday confirmed 338 new cases of COVID-19, as the number of infected people pushed to 5,959. This came two weeks after the country began a gradual easing of a lockdown imposed to control the spread of the virus.

The Nigeria Center for Disease Control (NCDC) in a tweet said the new cases were reported in sixteen States.

Of the 338 new cases, Lagos alone had 177, higher than 176 recorded for the entire country on Saturday, May 16.

Other state’s figures were 64- Kano, 21-FCT, 16-Rivers, 14-Plateau, 11-Oyo, 9-Katsina, 4-Jigawa, 4-Kaduna, 3-Abia, 3-Bauchi,

3-Borno, 2-Gombe, 2-Akwa Ibom, 2-Delta, 1-Ondo

1-Kebbi and 1-Sokoto.

So far, 1,594 have recovered and have been discharged, while 182 deaths have been reported.
