Buhari, Security Chiefs in crucial meeting over growing insecurity

President Muhammadu Buhari has summoned service chiefs to a crucial security meeting over growing insecurity in Nigeria.

The meeting which started about 11 am is being attended by all the Service Chiefs and heads of the nation’s security apparatus.

At the meeting are the Chief of Defence Staff Gabriel Olonishakin; Chief of Army Staff, Tukur Buratai; Chief of Naval Staff, Ibok-Ete Ibas; and the Chief of Air Staff, Sadiq Abubakar.

Others include the Director-General of the National Intelligence Agency, Ahmed Abubakar, National Security Adviser, NSA, Babagana Monguno , Director General (DG) ,Department of State Service, Yusuf Bichi, and the Inspector-General of Police, Mohammed Adamu.

Although the agenda are usually not made public, the meeting always provide an opportunity for the managers of the nation’s security system to review the state of progress , while the Defence Chiefs also brief the President on the state of Security situation in the country.

At the end of the meeting new measures are rolled out while the President gives specific directives to the Service Chiefs on how to tackle challenging security situations.
