Nigeria’s Senate has asked President Muhammadu Buhari to work on the 2021 budget estimates and ensure presentation of same before the end of September 2020.
Senate President Ahmad Lawan, while referring the 2021-2023 Medium Term Expenditure Framework and Fiscal Strategy Paper (MTEF/FSP) to the relevant committees of the Senate for necessary legislative action, said presentation of the budget before the end of September would enable the National Assembly to complete necessary works and pass it before the end of December.
Buhari had submitted the 2021-2023 Medium Term Expenditure Framework and Fiscal Strategy Paper to the National Assembly on Tuesday.
Lawan also asked the various committee members to engage all the revenue-generating committees very well to ensure that a thorough job is done.
The committees were given four weeks to report back to the Senate.
