BREAKING: Dogara returns to APC, meets Buhari

Dogara

Immediate past speaker of Nigeria’s House of Representatives, Yakubu Dogara, has left the opposition People’s Democratic Party (PDP) and returned to the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC), a party he dumped in 2018.

Dogara, who was sighted at the Presidential Villa, Abuja, on Friday, was said to have met President Muhammadu Buhari at the State House to pledge his loyalty.

He was led to the president’s office by Mai Mala Buni, Yobe State governor and chairman of APC Caretaker/National Planning Committee, who had earlier informed President Buhari of the latest development in the ruling party.

The former speaker did not speak when accosted by State House correspondents, but Buni confirmed that Dogara has become a member of the APC.

Dogara, who has been a member of the House of Representatives since 2007, left the APC for the opposition PDP in 2018. He had defected to the PDP two months after the then Senate President Bukola Saraki ditched APC for the PDP.

He later obtained PDP nomination forms and contested and won the Bogoro/Dass/Tafawa Balewa Federal Constituency (Bauchi State) seat in the House of Representatives.
