President Muhammadu Buhari will broadcast to the nation, on Tuesday 1st of October, 2019, as part of activities to commemorate Nigeria’s 59th Independence Anniversary Celebrations.

Already, the Presidential Villa is wearing a new look, preparatory to the Independence celebrations.

The broadcast will be aired by 7am on Tuesday, ahead of the main ceremonies scheduled to take place at the foyer of the President’s office at the State House.

A statement issued by Presidential Spokesman, Femi Adesina, advised all Television, radio stations and other electronic media outlets to hook up to the network services of the Nigerian Television Authority and Radio Nigeria for the broadcast.

Unlike the previous celebrations which held at the Eagles Square, Abuja, this year’s event was moved to the Presidential Villa.

Although there was no official reasons for the shift in venue, BusinessDay investigations revealed that the decision may not be unconnected with the current security situation in Abuja, the nation’s capital.

The Presidential Villa has been decorated with Nigeria’s official color of Green- White- Green, to reflect the celebrations.

BusinessDay gathered that the main event which will attract only invited guests, including members of the Diplomatic Corps , will start by 10am.

The President is expected to cut the Independence cake, inspect the guard of honour and release of the Pigeons, as a sign of Peace.
