Police arrest 16-year old boy, 29 others for armed robbery in Kogi

Operatives of Nigeria Police Force, Kogi State Command on Monday said they arrested a 16-year old boy and other 29 suspects who have been lately terrorizing some cities and people of the state for armed robbery.

Parading the suspected armed robbers, including one woman and a Senior Secondary School I student of Ikaa Technical Secondary School (name withheld) in Okeke Local Government Area at the Police Command Headquarters in Lokoja, Bansam Gwana, the Commissioner of Police declared that those arrested were hardened criminals who terrorized and inflicted injuries on the people.

He noted that armed robbers were arrested. following the incident of December 2015 which led to the deaths of two Police officers late Isiojola Gbenga and PC. Yohanna Amos attached to Okene Divisional Police Headquarters who were ambushed and killed by armed robbers, while on duty along Okene-Ogori-Lagos Highway.

The Commissioner added that on December 13 2015 another Policeman, DSP James Moses, who was on transit along Okene-Akure Road was shot dead in a mechanic workshop, while repairing faulty EOD vehicle and his service pistol was stolen.

But, with prompt intervention of SARS Operatives and Anti Crime Patrol in Okene Division who engaged the hoodlums in a gun duel and the attack led to the recovery of the deseaed’s service pistol and one AK 47 riffle, while two of the robbers sustained bullet wounds and later died on the way to the hospital.

Among the criminals is fake Dangote cement manufacturers with 32 bags of adulterated cement, 200 empty bags and raw materials which they mixed with original cement, refilled and re-bagged it before they later sent the adulterated cement to market.

Items recovered from the robbers include two AK 47 riffles and 3 rounds of ammunition with breech No 56 -2-4005777, 10 magazines, one pump action riffle and 4 live cartiridges with breech No 005725412, 4 masks, One Ash colour Nissan Almera car, Honda Oddyssey with Reg. NO. SMK 487 CZ and N187,920.

Others, were 12 handset with different makes, 23 cows, 2 cutlasses, one bucket containing different slippers and machine parts, one motorcycle with Reg. No. LKJ 384 UG and one bag containing clothes.

Among the suspected armed robbers were 16-year old boy (name withheld), Mohammed Abdulrasaq,,Chukwuma Okoroafor, Chukwuma Aniche, Cidibe Okocha, Chukwuebuka Ejemydo, Amarachi Okoafor Eze,Musa Kalla – 19 years; Idowu Elisha, 25 years; Faruq Usman 23 years; Muriana Mustapha 39 years; Ali Kengiwa 60 years Mohammadu Sanni 52 years; Daniel Musa 22 years and others.

He however, noted that Police are always ready the partner with the public to fight crime and equally sweep out crimes and criminalities in the entire Kogi state, adding that people of the state should to collaborate with the Police to flush out the hoodlums from the state.
