The duo of Stanbic IBTC Stockbrokers Limited and CSL Stockbrokers Limited led other stockbroking firms in terms of value and volume of equities deals done at the Nigerian Stock Exchange (NSE) last month, according to the Exchange’s stockbrokers’ performance report.

In the month of May under review, only 10 stockbroking firms exchanged 7,686,671,183 units of companies’ shares or 50.92 percent of the total volume of equities traded in the same month.

Also, 10 stockbroking firms accounted for N143.464 billion worth of equities deal or 72.09 percent of the total value of stock deals done at the Nigerian bourse in the same month of May.

Stanbic IBTC Stockbrokers Limited led others in terms of value and volume. The firm accounted for N30.067 billion or 15.11 percent of the total value of equities traded at the Exchange in the review month, while 1,581,698,503 units of companies’ shares or 10.48 percent were exchanged by same stockbroking firm.

CSL Stockbrokers Limited followed suite in terms of value and volume and accounted for N27.468 billion or 13.80 percent worth of equities deals in the review month, while it traded 1,336,036,738 units of companies shares which represents 8.85 percent of the total number of equities traded at the Exchange last month.

Details of the report show that Marina Securities Stockbroking Serviced Limited followed CSL in terms of volume of equities traded. The firm traded 894,008,332 units (5.92%); followed by Rencap Securities (Nigeria) Limited, which traded 892,117,088 units (5.91%), and Cordros Capital Limited, which accounted for 692,905,142 units or 4.59 percent of the total volume of equities exchanged at the Nigerian bourse last month.

Other top stockbroking firms in terms of volume of equities traded are BGL Securities Limited, which accounted for 513,541,446 units or 3.40 percent; FBN Securities Limited accounted for 500,666,898 units or 3.32 percent; SFC Securities Limited accounted for 440,018,848 units or 2.91 percent; Capital Express Securities Limited accounted for 429,304,581 units or 2.84 percent, while Cashcraft Asset Management Limited accounted for 406,373,607 units or 2.69 percent of the total volume of equities traded at the Exchange in May.

It terms of value, Rencap Securities (Nigeria) Limited followed CSL Stockbrokers after it accounted for N22.301 billion worth of equities deal or 11.21 percent of the total value of equities traded at the Exchange in the review month.

Cordros Capital Limited followed on the chart after accounting for N22.065 billion worth of equities deal or11.09 percent of total value of deals at the Exchange last month.

Also in the list of top 10 stockbroking firms that moved stock market deals in terms of value are: FBN Securities Limited, which accounted for stocks deals worth N10.609 billion or 5.33 percent; Greenwich Trust Limited, which accounted for stocks deals valued at N8.627 billion or 4.34 percent, and African Alliance Stockbrokers Limited, which accounted for equities worth N6.584 billion or 3.31 percent.

In addition, Meristem Securities Limited accounted for N6.120 billion or 3.08 percent; Investment One Stockbrokers International Limited accounted for N5.348 billion worth of equities traded last month or 2.69 percent of total value of equities traded at the Exchange, and Chapel Hill Denham Management Limited, which accounted for N4.271 billion or 2.15 percent.
