The PEARL Awards Nigeria has concluded arrangements to hold the ninth annual PEARL public lecture for capital market development. The lecture, which is scheduled for Tuesday, May 28, 2013, would hold at the Muson Centre, Onikan, Lagos, by 11am.

The theme for this year’s lecture is “Enhanced Capital Market Recovery, Stability and Growth: Path to Sustainable National Economic Development.” The lecture is to be delivered by Olusola Dada, past president, Institute of Directors, and chairman/CEO, Anchoria Investment & Securities Limited.

Additionally, some experts in corporate Nigeria would be lead discussants, such as Emeka Madubuike, president, Association of Issuing Houses of Nigeria; Tijani Borodo, company secretary, First Bank of Nigeria, and Uju Ogubunka, FCIB, registrar/CEO, Chartered Institute of Bankers of Nigeria.

Olalekan Adekoya, secretary, board of governors, PEARL Awards Nigeria, noted that the annual lecture was instituted in 2005, to provide a forum for seasoned experts and technocrats (nationally and internationally) from the public and private sectors to brainstorm on germane, contemporary and emergent issues in capital market development.

The maiden edition of the lecture, which had the theme “Market Integrity and Investors Protection: Regulatory Imperatives and Lesson for a Developing Economy” was delivered by Nnenna Orji, immediate past executive chairman, Investment & Securities Tribunal, while last year’s edition was delivered by Bisi Onasanya, FCA group managing director/CEO, First Bank of Nigeria, and the theme was “Rejuvenating The Nigerian Capital Market for Sustainable Growth & Global Competitiveness: Issues, Challenges & Options.”

Eminent Nigerians in the corporate world including capital market regulatory authorities, market operators, shareholders’ associations and other stakeholders are expected to grace this year’s lecture.
