Global Asset Management Nigeria Limited beat other stockbroking firms to occupy topmost position in the two months to February 2016 equity trading at the Nigerian Stock Exchange (NSE).

The company according to the broker performance report at the NSE traded 7,237,832,347 units representing 19.76percent of the entire market turnover in the review period. Ten Stockbroking firms were responsible for 24,781,130,473 units or 68.62percent of the total volume of stocks traded in the two months to February at the Nigerian bourse.

Vetiva Capital Management Limited came second on the list with 6,683,363,394units, representing 18.25percent; followed by CSL Stockbrokers Limited which accounted for 2,259,369,582 units, which represent 6.17percent.

Other stockbroking firms that occupied the topmost position two months to February equity volume are: Stanbic IBTC Stockbrokers Limited which accounted for 2,238,694,165 units or 6.11percent; Apel Asset Limited (1,915,793,046units or 5.23percent); and Rencap Securities (Nig) Limited (1,034,132,207units or 2.82percent).

Others are: Coronation Securities Limited (938,496,934units or 2.56percent); FBN Securities Limited (907,710,252 units or 2.47percent); Chapel Hill Denham Securities Limited (812,866,775 units or 2.21percent); and EFCP Limited (752,871,771 units or 2.05percent.

In terms of value of shares traded, Stanbic IBTC Stockbrokers Limited led others after accounting for N24.748billion worth of equities representing N12.28percent of the total value of stocks exchanged at the NSE in the review period.

Ten stockbrokers were responsible for N129.670billion or 68.15percent of the total value of stocks exchanged in two months to February at the Nigerian bourse. 

CSL Stockbrokers Limited came second on the value traded list with N24.452billion or 12.14percent. FBN Securities Limited accounted for N17.920billion or 8.89percent; Rencap Securities (Nig) Limited (N15.511billion or 7.70percent; and EFCP Limited (N12.953billion or 6.43percent).

It also includes: Vetiva Capital Management Limited (N9.114billion or 4.52percent); Global Asset Management-Nigeria Limited (N7.012billion or 3.48percent); Chapel Hill Denham Securities Limited (N6.226billion or 3.09percent); African Alliance Stockbrokers Limited (N6.056billion or 3percent) and Meristem Stockbrokers Limited (N5.673billion or 2.81percent).
