Zuriel Oduwole is one young dynamic girl who never ceases to amaze me. Every time I hear from her, it is always something new. I have anchored her major events in Nigeria and when ever I get to hear her speak about her passion for the girl child, I am always in awe. Recently, she was in Nigeria in partnership with Sahara Group through her foundation DUSUSU to empower young girls in the art of film making and I caught up with her, her sister Azaliah and her father over dinner. I asked her what her experience has been and she said “it has been truly inspiring. I am glad I am able to teach them what I know about film making and from their response you can tell they can’t wait to put to practice what they have been taught”.
She is currently in Ghana for same reasons and will be leaving for Cote d’Ivoire to share her knowledge about film making with young girls. The activity is aimed at improving girl child education (SDG 4) and gender equality (SDG 5) while teaching the young girls how to make films and helping them share their stories and as such giving them a voice in the society.
