Ogechukwu Modie, with over two decades of diverse experience, has developed a multifaceted career spanning Nigeria’s private, third, and public sectors. Her expertise covers three primary areas: Finance, opinion research, public policy and strategic communications, with a strong focus on driving strategic initiatives, organisational growth, and impactful reforms. Ogechukwu has successfully delivered high-impact results in these areas. Throughout her career, she has demonstrated a unique ability to drive organisational transformation, shape national policy, and deliver data-driven insights that influence business and government decisions.
Also, she has held key roles in organisations spanning the private sector, where she contributed to mergers and acquisitions, project finance, and private equity in the third sector. She championed evidence-based research for policy development and social impact, and in the public sector, she was instrumental in shaping Nigeria’s petroleum sector reforms and led strategic communications for the Nigerian Presidency.
Some of her career highlights include: leadership roles in high-profile financial and consulting organisations such as Agusto & Co Ltd, Heirs Alliance (now HEIRS Group), Nextzon Business Services, and Makeda Fund Managers LLC. She also served as MD/CEO of NOIPolls, where she became the first woman to head Nigeria’s leading independent opinion polling organisation, driving national discussions on governance and policy. Furthermore, she led significant reforms in Nigeria’s petroleum sector as pioneer Chief of Staff to the Group Managing Director of NNPC and Minister of State for Petroleum Resources, and she also coordinated the Nigeria petroleum reforms programme -7 big wins- with key successes recorded over the 4 year period.
She founded Alternativ Managers, an SME-focused consulting firm, advising organisations like Ford Foundation, SMEDAN, and LEAP Africa on entrepreneurship and SME growth and funding. She also founded the Radah Media Company, a strategic communications advisory company with the objective of shaping communications between governments and its citizens using technology.
As former Senior Special Assistant (Strategic Communications) to a former president, she led the Strategic Communications Unit (SCU), a team that developed a bespoke internal and external communications system that delivered effectiveness, cohesiveness, ease of communication and productivity, coordinated from the office of the Chief of Staff to all arms of government.
At NNPC, Modie was involved in development and execution of the 20 fixes initiative of the former GMD aimed at transforming the corporation and repositioning it to become a transparent and profit-yielding entity.
