Few weeks ago, a group of teenagers embarked on a trip that should put them on the right course to success at an annual event called the BusinessDay CEO Apprentice boot camp; a program that seeks to fortify a select group of aspiring teenage entrepreneurs, aged 14- 18years with the tools to make their business ideas a reality.
This year’s event provided young CEO apprentices with skills of starting a business and taking an idea from concept to reality. They learned about presentation skills, the use of the latest technologies in training, including the use of a workbook, which becomes a functional business plan. They further learnt about product testing and market validation, customer segmentation, competitor analysis and also how to come up with a business idea.
Also, this year’s CEO apprentice featured an action-packed taekwondo class and visits to corporate technology companies which include Andela and The Rise lab.
There were also interactive games were participants were placed in teams and given the responsibility to create and pitch a business idea after which the results was then assessed by a team of leading professionals from various sectors of the economy.
One of the teenagers Olorunfemi Jasmine said the experience was a eye-opening one as she learned about the different aspects of running a successful and sustainable business.
Also, Mokwunye Udoka narrated how the program teaches teenagers how to be more proactive and not wait till they are adults to start a business or work on themselves.
The winning team in an entrepreneurial event, Morden Green Homes were given a sum of N200,000 thousand as seed capital.
This year’s edition took place on the 19th to 24th of August, 2019.
The event had prominent speakers from different segments of the business world.
