Insurance regulator, the National Insurance Commission has approved the appointment of Edwin Igbiti, as the new managing director/CEO of AIICO Insurance plc. Igbiti was appointed acting managing director late last year, following a restructuring in the Company that saw a crop new generation top executives to drive the operations of the group.
NAICOM in its letter dated January 28, 2014 confirmed and approved the appointment of Edwin Igbiti as the substantive MD/CEO following the Company’s announcement in December 2013.
Igbiti’s insurance career spans over two decades. His visionary leadership has inspired AIICO’s continuous and exceptional growth over the years and has seen the company rank amongst the top three Insurance companies in Nigeria.
He is a seasoned professional with tremendous depth and wealth of technical experience.
Igbiti is professionally affiliated to the Nigerian Institute of Management, Chartered, (NIMC) and the Chartered Insurance Institute of Nigeria (CIIN) where he recently bagged a fellowship of the institute.
He holds an MBA from the University of Ado-Ekiti an advanced diploma in Management from the University of Lagos (1997), an insurance certificate from chartered Insurance Institute, London and is an alumnus of Howard University Business School, USA.
AIICO Insurance plc also recently celebrated its two great minds that have immeasurably contributed to the growth of the AIICO Group, as retiring directors.
The duo, Rasheed Gbadamosi, an economist and Eugene Okwor, a qualified lawyer and an insurance guru, both served as directors on the Board for 17 and 7 years respectively.
Oladele Fajemirokun, chairman of the company, said the ceremony was organised to show profound appreciation for the efforts of the retiring directors who discharged their duties creditably, describing them as men of inimitable qualities and wished them well in their future endeavours.
