INSCAN unveils consumer protection campaign for insurance tomorrow

Poised to create awareness on consumer rights and protection, the Insurance Consumers Association of Nigeria (INSCAN) said it would officially introduce its public enlightenment  programmes on Wednesday.

The programme billed to  take place at the Lagos Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Marwa Gardens, Alausa, Ikeja, Lagos seeks to increase public consciousness about insurance.

INSCAN said it is a public led initiative established to protect the interest of insurance consumers in Nigeria and to expose the immense benefits of insurance protection to the Nigerian society.Fola Daniel, commissioner for insurance would be the special guest of honour while the President, Chartered Insurance Institute of Nigeria,  Bola Temowo, would be the chief launcher. The Director-General, Consumer Protection Council,  Dupe Atoki, would be the chairperson of the day.

National  Secretary, INSCAN, Julius Bruce, said the association serves as a cheap, accessible, trusted and respected avenue for aggrieved insurance consumers in the country to secure redress.

INSCAN wants to make the Nigerian insurance operators earn the consumer confidence, trust, patronage and premium through good service, relevant products and genuine respect, the statement added.

INSCAN said the association is an incorporated trustee registered by the Corporate Affairs Commission with four major objectives which are to protect the general interest of the insurance consumers in Nigeria and to create awareness to the public on the importance of insurance and the implication of not having it.

Others are to stand in the middle between the insurance companies and the insured whenever there is dispute for amicable resolution through compensation, as well as to foster unity and progress between the insurance industry and the general public.
