Buhari appoints Agboola as provost of neuropsychiatric hospital in Abeokuta

President Muhammadu Buhari has announced the appointment of Afis Akanni Agboola, a Consultant Psychiatrist as the provost and medical director of Federal Neuropsychiatric Hospital, Aro, Abeokuta.

The appointment, according to the press statement signed and issued in Abeokuta by Abiola Ajibola, Public Relations Officer, indicated that Agboola was the immediate past head of SERVICOM and Quality Improvement Services at the said hospital before being appointed by President Buhari as provost and medical director.

Agboola, who was appointed to serve for four years in the first instance with effect from 27th July, 2020 through a letter Reference Number SMH 547/TI67 dated 11th August, 2020 and issued by Adeleke Olorunnimbe Mamora, Minister of State for Health, graduated from Obafemi Awolowo University, Ile-Ife, Osun state where he qualified as medical doctor with Bachelor of Medicine and Bachelor of Surgery in 1998.

The new provost had his internship at General Hospital, Lagos in 1999 and underwent National Youth Service Corps scheme at Neuropsychiatric Hospital, Aro in Abeokuta and was later appointed as a registrar in Postgraduate Medical Residency Training Programme in Psychiatry at the Federal Psychiatric Hospital, Calabar, Cross River state in 2001.

Agboola was appointed as a Consultant Psychiatrist at Federal Neuropsychiatric Hospital, Aro, Abeokuta in 2007 and a fellow of the West African College of Physicians and also holds the Masters in Public Health with Management Option at Obafemi Awolowo University in 2016.
