African Guarantee Fund covers 75% risks of green field, women-led SMEs

Chipper Cash, a financial services company, has said it is helping Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) and creative entrepreneurs in Nigeria to scale their businesses through its virtual USD visa card.

The virtual card launched last year, allows people to pay for their online subscriptions, ads and shopping on international platforms.

According to a statement by the company, the card serves as an innovative way to boost the economy.

“With our lives being more digital in today’s world, Nigerian SMEs and creative entrepreneurs have had a hard time making seamless international payments.

“The card was designed for SMEs and creative entrepreneurs who want to scale their businesses and not have to worry about the hassle of making international payments for whatever they need for seamless business operations,” it further said.

The fintech startup added that the card has helped over 100, 000 SMEs and creative entrepreneurs increase their revenue by as much as 50 percent.

“We had had several successful informative online sessions hosted by experienced entrepreneurs to give tips on how the card has helped their businesses,” it said.

Rahama, a Kaduna-based cafe owner, said he had just opened his cafe when he learned that he couldn’t use the naira card for his social media adverts.

“A friend told me about the Chipper USD card and I have been able to do ads on Instagram and Facebook to promote my cafe online with no stress. Now my cafe is the talk of the town,” he said.

Kunle, a student and Instagram vendor based in Benin City added that he almost gave up on his mini importation business when the naira card limit got reduced.

“I downloaded Chipper immediately when they launched their card and I can proudly say that it has helped scale my business four times because I no longer have to worry about how to pay for my goods from international websites or how I will run my ads on Instagram,” he said.

Goldie Iyamu, marketing campaign manager at Chipper Cash Nigeria said, the success stories from the entrepreneurs and SMEs have been the fuel they need to keep building more innovative products that can help boost our economy and catapult these entrepreneurs to a global audience.

“International transactions are very seamless with the Chipper virtual USD Card and your card details are available, right in the Chipper app! Whenever you need access to your card number, expiration date, and CVV just open the app and grab the details for your next online purchase,” he said.

Iyamu added that funding the card is quick and can be done from inside the Chipper app too. “It really doesn’t get any easier than that.”

The chipper card can be used on sites like Amazon, Shopify, Canva, Photoshop, Facebook, Instagram, Apple Music, Alibaba, Fashion Nova, Shein etc.

“To access the card, you have to download the Chipper Cash app from the Google play store or Apple app store, verify your account and claim your card,” the company said.
