The Governor of Central Bank of Nigeria, Godwin Emefiele, has revealed that investors have strong confidence in the nation’s economy.

The Governor, who spoke at BusinessDay’s Post-election Outlook held in Lagos Thursday, noted that the Nigerian bond market did well by Emerging Markets standard.

According to Emefiele, Nigeria has continued to assure investors that they can exit their positions anytime.

“So far, we have not defaulted; we give them their money whenever they need it,” he said.

The apex bank Governor also revealed that an estimated $6 billion flowed into the country’s local bond market within two weeks after the election.

Giving an outlook into the year, the CBN boss said the bank would continue with its people-focused programmes and job- creation policies that could spur growth and bring more people into the tax regime. He noted that central banks around the world intervene in critical social and infrastructural programmes.
