ECOWAS Youth Council appoints Sanni Sheriff as Youth Ambassador

Sanni Sheriff is an executive chef and owner of Sannikayz Mobile Kitchen – a startup that operates in Lagos metropolitan has been appointed by the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) Youth Council as Youth Ambassador.

An engineering graduate of the University of Lagos, Sanni started his journey as an entrepreneur in 2011 when he began his mobile restaurant business on campus as an undergraduate.

His passion for cooking and desire to succeed as a chef led him to deepen his skills at one of the biggest culinary schools in the West Africa region – Culinary Academy, Lagos.

“This appointment is no unconnected with your laudable antecedents of dedication, hard work and diligence in the area of service to humanity and your commendable works as an advocate and relentless crusader of promoting entrepreneurship for Africa youths,” according to the letter of appointment signed by Emmanuel William, president, and chairperson, EYC.

Sanni is also the founder of Feed the Kids initiative for social impact which aims at developing and empowering children by providing nutritional meals to improve their quality of life.

He is also a recipient of several awards including Under 30 Achievers awards 2013, Creative Man of the year, University of Lagos Engineering Society Awards, and Best Entrepreneur in 2014.

He was also nominated as Sheraton Entrepreneur of the year at the African youth choice awards (FMR Ping Awards) 2014 and Nigerian Achievers Awards for Most enterprising youth 2015.

Sannikayz was also endorsed by Punch newspaper as one of the young CEOs in 2015, which created great opportunities for the brand. He was recently celebrated by Future Awards Africa as one of the 100 heroes engaged in the race to beat corona in Africa through community development projects.

“I feel so privileged and honored to be appointed by the ECOWAS Youth Council as the Youth Ambassador and this has made me realize how impactful my work has been,” Sanni said.

“I plan to extensively continue my work to establish more community kitchens in extremely poor communities to provide free meals for children and also empower women in such communities.”
